About Summit

Every summer since 1969, hundreds of kids and adults come from around the world to experience what they call “the magic on the hill”: building confidence, forming lasting friendships, and learning important skills.
Summit Camp & Travel is a residential summer camp and travel program based in Honesdale, PA, for kids and teens with social, attention, and learning challenges. Though it serves a neurodiverse population, Summit’s campers and staff enjoy the summer the same way as any other camp: daily activities such as visual and performing arts, swimming, athletics, and outdoor challenges, plus special traditions such as talent shows, color war, trips, and theme days.
Those childhood and young adult summers are only the beginning. Equipping young people for the future is built into the Summit mission — the hope that, by meeting campers’ needs and teaching them vital social and emotional skills, that they will use what they learned at camp to build successful, happy adult lives.
What We Do
Former campers, and the counselors who supported them, cherish these memories for decades after. After campers age out of the program or staff move on to full-time careers, many still want a way to remain connected to the community. This is where alumni outreach comes in.
Most camps, especially those as old as Summit, keep records of every past summer. This site was launched to help with that goal. Please take a look at the archives to reminisce on past summers. If you can remember any details about specific years, please submit them to us, so we can make the archive as complete as possible.
Most camps also hold reunions where alumni of all ages can see their old friends and the camp. If you have social media, consider reaching out to the camp and encourage them to host events. As much as the adult alumni community love Summit, most haven’t been back to visit in many years, and want the opportunity to re-live the magic for a day or a weekend. Details about alumni events will be shared here once the camp formally plans them.
