1999–2008: The Gang of Five Years
In 1999, Gene Bell joined Summit as a director, growing the leadership team into “the Gang of Five.” Together they ran the camp for a fourth decade. In these years, the camp grew to its highest enrollment and offered more activities than ever — but thanks to the internet and new social networking, campers, staff, and parents could feel closer to Camp and one another all year round. This era also introduced “Reach” as the camp dance!
